Mother's Day

My Mom Carol

With Mothers Day just around the corner (6 days to be exact) many of you are thinking about what to get mom.  For those of you who do not have a lot of money to spend or if you just want to create a gift that comes from the heart, here are a few ideas:

1) Home made bath salts

you will need the following:

-2 cups Epsom salts
-1 Tbs strawberry extract or Vanilla extract
-4 drops Red (strawberry) or yellow (Vanilla) Food coloring

Mix all ingredients and pack them in a mason jar or whatever container you choose fit.

2) Bath Bombs

you will need the following:

-1 cup baking soda
-1 cup citric acid powder
-1/2 cup corn starch
-1/2 cup almond oil
-2 tsp cocoa powder

Mix all ingredients together and pack them tightly into balls or you could use cupcake tins, ice cube trays, etc... Let them set overnight and then air dry.

3)  Body Scrub

you will need the following:

-1 cup raw sugar
-1 1/2 cups almond oil
-1 tsp lemon extract
-1 tsp vanilla extract

Mix all ingredients and pack them in a mason jar or whatever container you choose fit.

If your Mom isn't the type that enjoys body scrubs and bath salts, here are a couple of other ideas

1) Clean up:

The odds have it that you made tons of messes when you were younger so now its payback time.  Clean her house or detail her car for mother's day.

2) Cook:

Make her dinner (Choose her favorite recipe)
Make a buffet style brunch (Choose all her favorite breakfast items)
After dinner or brunch go out for desert:

Both TCBY and Coldstone are offering a free scoop of ice cream for mom's and if that doesn't suit you Friday's is offering a free desert.

3) Day at the movies:

Rent all her favorite movies and make popcorn.  She will love spending the whole day with you and it will give you the ability to catch up without the limitations of the movie theater.

Whatever you choose to do just make sure that you celebrate the most important person in your life, after all she gave it to you!
